About Me
I have been a counselor for over 20 years. But I've been a career adventurer even before I knew that "career exploration" was a thing. I vividly remember walking into college as a freshman wondering, what on earth am I doing here?! I was a first generation college student, I didn't know there was help to look at majors. But still, in the mid 80's, adults still encouraged us to "find yourself" in college. But 'just say No' to drugs. Whatevs.
So I was lost. But I managed to graduate with a Political Science degree. On the day of my graduation, my grandma asked me what I was going to do with my degree? I told her I was going to run for president of the United States. I still might. Don't get me started...
Luckily, I became passionate about student affairs and higher education. I accepted a position as a Resident Hall Director, which required me to be in a graduate program. I chose counseling because it was suggested to me and sounded fun and easy, it wasn't. No one comes to counselors because they are happy. But again, I managed to graduate.
But that's okay, I found out I'm good at helping people solve problems. I found that I wasn't the only person in the world who was confused in college and in life, about careers. And I learned ALOT about helping people look for jobs, and careers, and lo, and behold, I found my place.
And I hope, with this website, I can be a voice of helping.
